PRP pre-treatment guidelines

 

These guidelines are designed to maximise the results of your PRP Skin Rejuvenation Therapy and to ensure the treatment can be safely delivered. 

Please read and follow this information prior to your PRP Skin Rejuvenation Therapy appointment.

Prior to your appointment, please advise us if any of the following apply to you as PRP Therapy may not be suitable for you: 

  • Platelet disorders and blood disorders

  • Cancer, chemotherapy or radiotherapy

  • Acute and chronic infection

  • Severe systemic or metabolic conditions/ disorders

  • Anti‐coagulation therapy

  • Use of oral corticosteroids within ten days prior to PRP procedure

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding.

2 weeks before the procedure

  • In consultation with your physician, reduce or cease dose of oral corticosteroids (e.g. prednisone) for 2 weeks prior to the procedure.

1 week before the procedure

  • Avoid skin treatments such as dermal needling, microdermabrasion, and aggressive peels 

  • Avoid Aspirin

  • Avoid supplements that are known to increase bruising such as Omega 3/6 and fish oils

  • Avoid high strength cosmeceuticals containing Vitamin A, Retinol, Glycolic acid.

2 days before the procedure

  • Avoid non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen, Diclofenac, Celecoxib, Meloxicam (do not restart until 10 days after your PRP treatment)

  • Drink plenty of water

  • Avoid foods with high fat content

  • Avoid excessive alcohol

  • Minimise caffeine intake.

Day of procedure

  • Drink at least one litre of water
